Choosing the Most Reliable Motorcycle Shippers

The motorcycle shippers you choose to safely send your bike across country should be knowledgeable about motorcycles and put your bike's care at the top of their priority list.

Why Choose A Motorcycle Shipper?

If you're moving across country and you don't have the time or the manpower to ride your bike across country, you should hire motorcycle shippers. Most people who have a lot of stuff to move don't even drive their own cars across the country. Instead, they rent a moving van and tow the car. Towing a car makes it much easier to get the car and the stuff to the same destination at the same time. The same goes for your motorcycle.

Motorcycle shippers will put your bike in a trailer or load it in a truck as freight and drive it across country. There is a difference in these two modes of bike transportation. A trailer is a more personal experience, but it can be more expensive. Bikes that are put on trailers are only put with other bikes. Bikes that are put in freight trucks may be put with other equipment opening it up to being nicked, dinged or bashed by other items in the freight.

Typically if you decide on motorcycle shippers who use the freight method, you'll have to get rid of the gas and oil in the bike before it's moved. This is to prevent these substances from spilling on other items in the freight. Trailer movers generally won't make you do this.

Most motorcycle shippers will prepare your bike for the journey by covering it and securely placing it in the traveling device. However, when you make your reservations, you should check and see if you need to provide the cover or if they're going to provide it. While you're asking about what the cost includes, don't forget to ask about shipment details. Some companies don't tell you there's a delivery fee until after they've moved your bike. Also, some of them won't deliver your bike to your front door, others will. Make sure to ask about these details before you book your motorcycle shipper.

You'll have the best experience with motorcycle shippers if you choose shippers who have a motorcycle background. Some shippers just try to fill up freight. Others specialize in shipping motorcycles and will actually personally drive the motorcycle trailers across

country.

Using a Trucking Company

If you don't want to use a specialized motorcycle shipper, you can always get a trucking company to take your bike across country. You can pay roughly $400 for a motorcycle crate, pack up the bike and then the company will load it in the truck. It's incredibly important that you buy a packing crate. If you don't, you're risking a damaged bike.

Motorcycle shippers charge different fees. These fees are generally based on the size of the bike and the length of the trip. Check with several motorcycle shippers to see which deal is best for you.
